Easy Idiyappam with Chicken Kurma







After my marriage i tasted this one at Kerala that was the first time till that time i never heard the name and never ate. You will find this in Tamilnadu and Kerala side. I tried when i was India but it will take bit hard and take time. After moving to Australia when i was searching for the right flour in the grocery story one women suggested me easy idiyappam mix and i tried it unbelievable so easy and very quick.
For steam cooking i used Electric rice cooker and Idiyappam holders please see the picture above.
If you those things in wooden one it will be very good.


Ingredients:

MDK Idiyappam String Hopper Flour (wheat or Rice)
Normal Water(Room temperature)
1.Take a wide vessel pour the required flour add little by little water make a nice dough and cover with wet cloth keep aside.
2. Switch on the Electric Rice Cooker with half level of water in the Vessel boil the water.
3. Take Vegetable Steamer tray of the Electric rice cooker place it.
4. Take a hopper machine press the hoppers in the hopper holder and keep the holders in the Electric rice cooker Vegetable steamer rack and cook for 2 or 3 minutes until it wont stick to your hands.
5. Shift those in hot pack and again use hopper machine for next hopper.


Chicken Kurma:
Ingredients
1 kg Skin less Chicken
1 table spoon Gingerly oil
few curry leaves
1 inch cinnamon stick
cloves 3
Cardamom cloves- 2
Poppy seeds - few
mint leaves - few
Coriander leaves - few
1 large onion cut into slices
2 medium size tomatoes
curry leaves - few
Turmeric -pinch
Chilli Powder - Required
Coriander Powder - Required
Pepper seeds
Cumin seeds
Mustard seeds
Green chillies
Salt
Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 tea spoons

Preparation:
1. Clean the chicken applying turmeric and clean with water.
2. Take a vessel pour gingerly oil add mustard seeds, cinnamon, Cloves, Cardamom , Cumin seeds, Green Chillies,curry leaves, poppy seeds, pepper seeds, fry it and add onion slices fry until it turns golden brown and add tomato slices fry it.
3. Cool it and mash like a pate.
4. Take a Pressure cooker keep mashed masala and chicken all remaining ingredients except coriander leaves with i small cup of water and pressure cook on medium flame for one whistle.
5. Garnish with coriander leaves rice with rice, Idly, Dosa, Idiyappam e.t.c



We can make Red String hoppers by using Red Rice u will get the flour in the stores

I served with Fish Curry (South Indian)
