Cabbage Peas Kootu


Ingredients:

1/4 Cabbage
1/2 cup frozen green peas
1/2 cup Tamarind juice
1/2 cupGreen Gram Dhal
Turmeric powder

Masala

Coconut small piece
Coriander Seeds - 1 tablespoon
Red Chillies - 2 Nos
Pepper - 1 teaspoon

For seasoning:

Onion - 1 small onion
Green Chillies 2-3
Curry Leaves few
Oil -
Mustard - 1/2 teaspoon
Salt - 1 teaspoon or as per taste

Method:

1. Cook green gram dhal along with turmeric powder till soft.

2.Cut the onion into cubes. cut the green chillies lengthwise.

3.Make masala with

a teaspoon of oil, fry red chillies, coriander seeds, pepper and coconut gratings and grind to a fine paste.

4.In a vessel put the oil and when it is hot add mustard seeds,curry leaves.

5.add chopped onion, green chillies fry till onion turns transparent.

6.Add green peas and fry for a while. Then add cabbage pieces and mix well.

7.Add ground paste, salt and little water and stir well. Close with a lid and cook on low flame till the cabbage is cooked soft.

8.Add tamarind juice and cooked dhal.

9.Stir well. Allow to cook for few more minutes.
